Energy: The Pressure Is On — Can We Stomach the Tough Choices Ahead?

5/2/2011 - 12:06AM

With energy, the pressure is on, whether we feel it now or not. We are lurching toward an economic, security and climate crisis of our own making. Infrastructure: If You Build It, They Will Come: How Bridging the Infrastructure Gap Should be More Than a Dream

5/2/2011 - 12:02AM

The building blocks of any society are the underlying infrastructure systems that allow us to get from Point A to Point B, the foundations to provide our quality of life and surroundings. From highways and railways that channel our commerce to the electric grid that powers our homes and offices, infrastructure is the backbone of our global economy. But the rising world population will present increased pressures on our infrastructure, deepen the divide between the haves and the have-nots and drive new challenges that must be addressed in innovative ways. Failure to act could prove costly down the road. But investing in infrastructure – bridging the infrastructure gap – is a transformational opportunity for economic growth, strength and global positioning.  The nations that smartly and strategically invest in infrastructure will be the global leaders of the 21st century.
